Study – Acts 2:1-13

Nov 4th, 2008

How appropriate that my scripture reading is about the Day of Pentecost!  🙂

They were all assembled together.  There came a sudden sound from Heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house.

There “appeared” unto them cloven tongues like as of fire and it sat upon each of them.

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the spirit gave them utterance.

There were dwelling in Jerusalem, Jews, devout men, out of every nation.

When this was noised abroad, the people came together and wer confounded, because people were speaking their different languages.

They were amazed and marvelled, saying one to another… “Aren’t these Galileans?”

And they were all amazed saying, “What meaneth this?”

Others mocked, saying, “These men are full of new wine…”

I feel we always need to be amazed at the miraculous act of God filling someone with His spirit.  We live in a time that we have so much fiction, so much from Hollywood, that we have truly forgotten how to be amazed.  We watch movies, or tv shows, that make us see the impossible (illusions) to the point where when it really happens… we wonder how it happened, and what trick was used to do that.  We have become a skeptical people, looking for the answer to how and why instead of just believing that God is able and He knows the reasons!  I want to just believe!  I want to stop living with skeptical thoughts, and just trust that God is the answer to all things, and that He will do His will.  I just need to trust!
